A commenter here says Kyla Grace Palin was actually born on Saturday, not yesterday.
I received a phone call around noon on Saturday that Britta’s baby girl had been born – around 6 1/2 pounds.
The birth had gone very quickly so much so that Britta’s dad didn’t make it to the hospital in time. It makes me sad for her that Palin’s control of Wasilla is so intense that people can’t share in her joy. I know that the friends at church heard about the happy event but people are afraid to say anything.
This makes it even more strange that Sarah and Todd have not welcomed their first granddaughter into the world with a joyous public announcement.
It would hardly be an invasion of Track and Britta’s privacy for the grandparents–on either side–to announce the birth.
And it’s hardly a secret. My mention of it here this morning led to national and worldwide coverage, including in Sarah’s favorite glossy magazine/website People.
So why the prolonged silence from Wasilla? Could Sarah possibly be embarrassed that her two oldest children have now followed in her footsteps by conceiving babies outside of–to use a good ole’ 19th Century word–wedlock?
Or is she planning to announce the birth to Greta Van Susteren on Fox News?
Or, just maybe, is she still negotiating her fee for the first photo of her holding her first granddaughter?
UPDATE:
I’ve just received confirmation that Kyla Grace Palin was, in fact, born last Saturday, not Sunday, as I first posted. Which means it’s now going on three days without Sarah–so quick to parade Trig in public–or Bristol–so quick to put her own baby on a book cover–even publicly recognizing the existence of Kyla Grace.
Someday, this beautiful infant will become a young woman able to research facts about her own birth. How will she feel when she finds that her once-famous grandmother tried to suppress the news that she was born?

Perhaps the new parents do not want a story about them in People magazine. Let’s hope so. Track and Britta seem like people who want to live private lives; not in the limelight like Sarah and Bristol.
Her first granddaughter AS FAR AS WE KNOW. Perhaps you should add that in parentheses.

Someone posted on the IM blog that they really aren’t even married. They said that is why at Target, the gift registry was in the name of Britta Hansen. I have NO idea if this true or not! I’m just posting what I read. Could it be that’s why Sarah isn’t saying anything?
REading you comment again Joe, I would go with the fee. Sarah wants to make $$ while she still can and the exclusive People rights would give Sarah a big payday.
I hope that her son and daughter in law refuse to let Sarah use their baby for a payday.

If Track and Britta had wanted to avoid the “limelight,” they wouldn’t have voluntarily exposed and publicized their wedding via a celebrity news rag (for which they likely received a tasty payment).

Who is paying for the birth of this child? Is Britta still covered on her parent’s insurance because she’s a student? It makes sense for them not to be married because Track doesn’t work.

Actually Sarah called the press up there without Britta or Track knowing, Britta was disgusted by the fact that press was called but what can you do? No one knew about their wedding in Hatcher Pass except for family and friends. I know the family personally and can safely say that neither Track OR Britta called the Media. Look no further then Sarah.
We KNOW she is trying to get as much cash out of the event as possible. That is her one and only goal in life.
I am hoping that this Fall will be the end of her gravy train, and that they lock her up where she belongs.

Well, DG, regardless of how casually dressed the participants were, those sure look like “wedding” photos to me. Britta’s clutching a bouquet, everyone else is sporting a corsage, and “in a joint statement,” the Palins and the Hansons told the mag: “We’re tickled that after two decades of friendship we proudly witnessed their marriage.”
I know nothing of the Hansons. And, of course, the Palins are liars. So I have no idea whether or not Track and Britta are actually married.
Or, perhaps Track and his wife don’t want his ‘pain in the butt’ parents to make any formal announcement about their new baby. If we stop and think about it, Track has not been much involved w/Sarah or Todd during her run nationally – before or since. I personally think he wants as little as possible to do w/her.

This was actually a shock. Britta looked amazing the saturday before. I’m happy the birth went well and fast and I’m sure the child is a beauty. Sarah was glowing herself recently. I’m sure she’s still over the moon.

When the pregnancy hit the net, the friends who had posted many shower pics immediately took them down. Though I don’t think Britta minds spotlight (she WAS at the time 100 and candies benefit) I respect her for maybe wanting privacy right now.

Knowing that about her leads us to wonder why something as significant as the birth of a grandchild would not be considered a Twitter subject of the utmost importance, to be relayed to the world with haste and expediency. Why, when Bristol was with child she shoved her onto a stage, pointed, to her swelling abdomen and shouted “Hey America, my kid’s knocked up”!
It’s just a little odd for Twitler to be silent about any subject, and it causes one to pause and to ponder the possible reason(s), that’s all. AK marriage records are “private” for 50 years (and birth records for 100). That makes no sense. Why should people need to hide their marriage records or births. AK seems to have a lot of laws to appeal to people with things to hide.

i thought the same thing about britta keeping her maiden name. i’ve kept mine through 2 marriages (first one in 1976) and people always have something to say about it – usually negative. i’m a professional, but britta may have several reasons for wanting to keep her name. first — she is completing a college degree (or already has?) and may consider herself to be a professional who wants a separate identity from her husband. second — she may not want to be identified with the palins when dealing with people who don’t know her. third — she just may really like her name and wants to honor her father. so — to me, the fact that she used her maiden name on the baby registry does NOT prove that she and track are not married.

Yep, President Obama’s gift was, life panels. $p is known for her death panels in AK where well over two hundred elderly, and disabled died waiting for medical care. $p was projecting her own failed record with the elderly when she came up with death panels. The media ran with it, and it became President Obama’s death panels instead of investigating this frauds true record. I hope Mr. McGinniss has a chapter in The Rogue about this. Things were so bad at state level Medicare and Medicaid was cut off for the first time to any state.
I’d like to clarify that as long as Britta is under 26 she can stay on her parents insurance even if she is married. The new rules that were ushered in with Pres. Obama’s health care reform package do not required that children be unmarried or even a dependent as defined by the IRS. It only requires that the child does not have access to their own employer plan. I’ve seen the lack of insurance sited on several blogs as a potential reason for them not to get married and that simply is a false assumption. Take this from someone who has spent more time wading through the HCR provisions that I’d like to admit but it’s part of my job. The Palin Heath clan are poor representatives of abstinence and prove that it doesn’t work for them or anyone else going back for at least 3 generations. I wonder if they are the exception in Wasilla or Alaska or if it’s fairly typical for young people to get pregnant before marriage.

No, I don’t think there’s any connection at all. She announced the wedding, but there was no mention of the pregnant bride. It’s the out-of-wedlock conception or possibly out-of-wedlock birth that she appears to be embarrassed by. But since every person of breeding age in her family has done the same thing, you have to wonder why she is embarrassed by this one.
I would think that if Track & Britta really wanted to be independent adults with their brand new baby that they would move right out of the Palin compound. So why don’t they? Track & Britta can’t afford rent or food?
Living under Sarah Palin’s roof with her in control will affect them one way or another. Better to start your new family out under your own roof where you can make your own decisions about your life. Free rent is just not worth it!
She bungled announcing Tripp’s birth. Then, during an interview on Dec. 31, 2008, she recounted all the memorable events of the year but forgot her new grandson, Tripp, who was born just three days earlier. She also started a media feud earlier that day. For the sake of Track, Britta, and Kyla Grace, I hope it’s not a pattern she’s going to repeat.

From the little that I have read about Track, the smart one in the family, imagine he told his mother to STFU as he as many other times. Track has repeatedlly told his mother to not mention him. Since there are large numbers of people in AK with things to hide, it is not shock that those records are not available. Imagine what the FBI could find if they chose to open those files.
Your comment makes NO sense. Being happy and having a baby are not connected. A soon-to-be mom can look VERY happy up until she is in full labor (contractions five minutes apart, etc.). Then, she can’t smile. A week beforehand, both parents should be capable of enjoying themselves.

Alaska is very near the top in teen pregnancy stats, in addition to having one of the worst records for rape, sexual abuse, and domestic abuse. The raw beauty of nature can hide some pretty evil things.

Projection. Yes, that IS the word that fits sarah palin. I mistakenly used the word “transference” in another post, but projection is the correct psychiatric terminology. While Transference is more related to one’s relationship/interaction with a therapist, and is used as a means for a person to discover how one relates to others and gaining self-insight through that patient-therapist relationship, it appears in this light there would be no progress if sarah palin were to go into therapy as the transference process would need the element of trust. It is apparent this quality is direly missing from her little square box of emotions. I’m glad the poster who enlightened me brought up the difference. In projection, she is a whiz. Lee, I’m glad you brought up what happened to those elders on disability along with those elders who died in Alaska waiting for medical care under her watch. Just so you know: when people die on your watch and you have the ability to help or save them and you don’t – YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. I’ve tried to think of something special that you’ve done. NOTHING comes up. Nothing. You are no more special than anyone, therefore, you are just as accountable as ANYONE. The only difference between you and your average “joe”, is that you have A LOT MORE to be accountable for. You’ve gotten away with (so far) horrendous deeds and hatred spewing out of your foul mouth. For those of us who can THINK and DO – your ugly mask is already OFF. The curtain on your act is coming down. That just leaves you with the “fools” and in whose ONLY company you belong. NONE of their money, which is your ILL GOTTEN gains, belongs to you. You did NOTHING to deserve that. It will really be curtains for you when they wake up from your kool-aid spewing lies. YOUR MASK WILL BE TRULY OFF. Better enjoy those riches while you can. Someone in that fools pack is going to wake up and come back to TAKE what belonged to them. Todd Palin is party Alaskan Native. The indigenous peoples get free health care. All of Todd’s and his children’s and grandchildren’s medical care is free.
So that means if Track is really not Todd’s and or TriG is not a Palin, then Todd and Sarah are defrauding the state of Alaska.
